Learning by Locals strives to provide youth the gift of reading and writing by instilling strong habits in them. The courses include the development of basic-level skills of identification of words & letters, reading, and writing. They also include a conversational English course which consists of watching and discussing films and documentaries with strong social messages on issues such as sanitation, corruption, and pollution.

In the knowledge-driven economy, LBL provides Computer classes to the students where they learn the basics of computers as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The classes take place in two batches to accommodate as many students as possible and to give adequate attention to each student by avoiding overcrowding

Learning by Locals is fortunate to have a local filmmaker who teaches filmmaking every Sunday. In this course, students learn the technical mechanisms of film Making and even take trips in their wider Delhi community as a part of experiential learning.

Learning by Locals believes in enhancing not only the interpersonal skills but also the psychosocial competencies required for the holistic development of the kids. Theatre classes are arranged every Sunday for the kids to provide them a safe space to nurture their hidden talent.

Field trips

About twice a month, the LBL team takes students out on local field trips. While a favourite spot is Lodhi Gardens, the students are also taken to see sites of historic importance in Old Delhi. Recently, we expanded beyond Delhi’s borders and organised a trip to Agra!

Apart from the routine classes, Learning by Locals also leads workshops on several topics, from communications to music. Recently we arranged a communication workshop on giving and receiving feedback.
