Dravita Sharma
Dravita, 18, had recently completed her 12th from CBSE and lived in Vishwakarma Colony. She was an extrovert who enjoyed cooking and interacting with people, and she aspired to become a special needs teacher. Before joining Emerge, she struggled with communication and lacked digital knowledge. Through the fellowship, she improved her confidence, punctuality, and computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google tools. After completing the program, she communicated confidently, completed her work on time, and planned to pursue a job while continuing her Kathak dance training. Her journey reflected discipline, growth, and strong ambition.
Geeta Singh
Geeta shared that joining Emerge had brought significant improvement to her life. Before the program, she had struggled with communication and lacked confidence in speaking to others. After completing the fellowship, she communicated clearly and confidently. She gained strong digital knowledge, including the use of Google tools such as Google Docs, email writing, giving reviews, and using Google Maps, along with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. She believed that without Emerge, she might have remained at home without learning new skills. She felt grateful for being selected and considered Learning by Locals a life-changing opportunity. After the program, she planned to apply for jobs while continuing her Kathak dance training.
Khushboo
Khushboo, 19, had completed her 12th from CBSE and pursued advanced computer training. She aspired to become a teacher and aimed to secure a stable managerial position in the future. Despite facing personal challenges during her mother’s serious health issues, she remained strong and continued learning. Through Emerge, she developed confidence, teamwork skills, and gained practical exposure beyond academics. After completing the fellowship, she felt grateful for the opportunity and remained determined to build her career with resilience and dedication.
Palak
Palak, 20, had been pursuing a B.A. from Delhi University and aspired to become a teacher. Before joining Emerge, she had lost interest in studies and felt demotivated due to exam setbacks. The fellowship helped her rebuild confidence and focus. She improved her English communication, computer knowledge, and developed a stronger mindset toward challenges. She no longer let criticism affect her growth. After the program, she aimed to secure a job in the computer field while continuing to prepare for her teaching career. Payal
Payal, 21, had a life that was previously limited to household responsibilities. She had left a hospital job due to personal reasons and felt stressed about her education and future. When she learned about Emerge, she applied in search of better opportunities. Through the fellowship, she developed self-awareness, confidence, and practical life skills. She learned to use Google tools such as Sheets, Docs, and Slides, and worked on her emotional well-being and communication skills. After completing the program, she planned to prepare for the English UT exam, work as an English teacher for two years, and later pursue an ANM course to become a nurse.
Pooja
Pooja, 19, was an alumna of the Learning by Locals Emerge Fellowship. Before joining the program, her life had been limited to household work, and she felt confused about her goals, lacking direction and confidence. Through Emerge, she improved her English communication and learned computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google tools, Canva, email writing, and basic math. After completing the fellowship, she planned to work in a beauty parlour, save money, and eventually open her own parlour. Her goal was to become a successful beauty artist and build an independent life.

Priya
Priya, 20, had joined the Learning by Locals Emerge Fellowship after spending most of her time at home with low confidence and no clear career direction. Before the program, she had not been actively studying or building skills. Through Emerge, she learned MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, typing, basic English, and Google tools such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, Canva, and Google Calendar. The sessions and exposure helped her gain confidence and practical knowledge. After completing the program, she planned to apply for data entry jobs and build her career in the computer field.

Muskan
Muskan, 18, had completed her 12th and was a fellow of the Learning by Locals Emerge Fellowship. She lived in Sanjay Colony and enjoyed drawing. Before joining Emerge, she had been unsure about her future and lacked clarity about her next steps. Through the fellowship, she gained confidence, clarity, and new ideas about her career path. After completing the program, her short-term goal was to become fluent in English, and her long-term goal was to become a successful businesswoman.

Sonalika
Sonalika, 19, was part of the 8th batch of the Emerge Fellowship. Through her journey in the program, she gained exposure to new skills, learning opportunities, and personal growth. The fellowship helped her build confidence and develop a clearer vision for her future. After completing Emerge, she was better prepared to take steps toward her career goals and become more independent.
